// Digital with Analogue Display – CHRONOGRAPHIA

A digital clock shows the time using numerals or symbols. It is possible to combine an analogue display graphically with a digital display.

Digital Clock with Colourful Analog Rings

Using XHTML, jQuery and CSS it is possible to create a digital clock with circular analogue graphical indicators that show the progression of the hours, minutes and seconds. The clock below was published on 28th December, 2009 by Martin Angelov.

UTC Digital Clock with Analogue Rings

The animation of SVG images opens some interesting possibilities and clocks have been a subject of much attention. The basic code running on a computer or mobile device will show the device system time and with coding we can use offsets to provide the time for any time zone. The clock below was created by Hardik Sondagar to show UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) in 24-hour digital format with analogue rings using SVG. The original had a white font face and we darkened the font face and the empty parts of the rings, to give more contrast on our page.

Circular Digital Clock with Analogue Rings

A recent addition to digital clocks with analogue display created 8 November 2023 by liemapapa on CodePen. It is interesting because it displays both a 12-hour and a 24-hour clock simultaneously. We have changed the background colour and font colour and sizes to display better on our page.

TIMELY QUOTATIONS

Tyme is a thing that no man may resyst; Tyme is trancytory and irreuocable; Who sayeth the contrary, tyme passeth as hym lyst; Tyme must be taken in season couenable; Take tyme when tyme is, for tyme is ay mutable; All thynge hath tyme who can for it prouyde: Byde for tyme who will, for tyme will no man byde.
- John Skelton (c. 1463 – 21 June 1529), Poet Laureate to King Henry VIII.
